On Friday I had the pleasure of interviewing Alejandro Reyes of Successfool.com via Skype. Alejandro is a social media marketing strategist and speaker. He describes his blog at Successfool.com as a place that teaches entrepreneurs & small businesses better understand how to use social media to grow their brand, rock their web presence, and build a celebrity like following online.
We discussed a bit about what he does, how he got started and how to use social media to build relationships and establish strategic alliances for your business.
We also talked about how sites like Twitter and Facebook have grown his own business dramatically over the last couple of years, examples of other businesses which have been transformed by social media, mobile marketing, and the future of social networking in the years to come.
I hope you enjoy.

Great interview, Christine! Reyes gives some great advice and allows his passion and personality to clearly come forth, which is terrific.
I especially appreciate (and agree with) his comment about story telling – there must be some ancient part of us that craves narrative.

@Jen–Thanks! It was really fun to do. He so loves what he does and it is contagious.
Many times I think you can think of marketing as story-telling. I kind of like looking at it that way. Everyone enjoys a good story!
People who are online do need to keep it simple. When I first started out I was trying to do every social media platform out there. I was driving myself nuts. I decided to stick with Twitter, Facebook, SU and Reddit and that’s it. By narrowing my focus I’m actually done a better job of reaching more people with higher quality interactions.
Great interview!

That’s an excellent interview. You are definitely ahead of the curve. I find that most business owners have not yet considered the power and potential of harnessing social media for their business. It’s definitely a marketing channel that can generate fast and effective results.

Marketing as story-telling. I like that thought.
Anthony Verna’s last blog post..We’ve been busy
@Karl–Yes, I have done the same. I stick with Facebook and Twitter mainly with a little of LinkedIn and some bookmarking. No need to be everywhere. That’s one of the first things I tell people who come to me who are completely overwhelmed by it all.
@Brock–I see the same thing. I think they are interested in it and want to know more but they are also often a bit afraid of it too. I tell them to jump on in–the possible results are too good to ignore.
@Anthony–So do I. That’s something everyone can understand.
